About Me

I READ… A LOT

• 191 books read on Libby in three years—and that’s only Libby! Then there are the books my friends have written, what I find in little free libraries and Powells City of Books, e-books…

• Memoirs, thrillers, YA books, history, mystery, biography, poetry, audiobooks—I love them all.

• Favorite authors in recent years include Lucy Foley, Ken Follett (that Knightsbridge series!!!!), Helen Hoang, Lauren Wolk, Abby Jimenez (books AND Facebook comments—IYKYK), Louise Penny, Donna Leon, Richard Osman (Pierce Brosnan will need to be STELLAR to pull off Ron), Marian Keyes, Emily Henry, Barbara Kingsolver (early essay collection High Tide in Tucson remains one of my faves), Walter Isaacson, Christina Baker Kline… I could go on.

• Books you should “read” in audio form include Viola Davis’s Finding Me, Barbara Kingsolver’s Demon Copperhead, Brandi Carlile’s Broken Horses and Bono’s Surrender (both with songs!), and anything narrated by Julia Whelan, Ralph Cosham, or Adjoa Andoh.

I ALSO WRITE. . . A LOT. See samples of my writing here.

History

My Story

I have been editing and writing professionally since the mid-90s, when I got my start on our campus paper. I love interviewing, crafting stories, and shaping others’ work in ways that preserve their voice (ask me about the 8-page rant someone insisted we publish). These are great skills for writing white papers and case studies! I spent 20 years teaching in higher education, honing my ability to discern where people don’t understand and to communicate with clarity. For over fifteen years, I’ve also been training for and engaged in work that requires careful listening. This means you benefit not only from my writing and editing skills, but also my ability to ask good questions, listen to your needs, and give your message maximum impact.
